The Park

After visiting the Sylvanian Families London Shop in August 2013, I have been really interested in the exterior of the village (interior is indoor, exterior is outdoor) when I returned from the trip to London (which I told everyone about in the September posts) I found myself bringing with me 2 shop bags filled with exterior sets.
At that time, the village was quite bland outside, although it looked amazing on the insides of the houses,so I felt really pressured by my collectors and decoration instincts to make a park for everyone, instead of exclusive gardens. (There was no space for a garden each).
This was a good idea. This is because lower cornwood looked extremely boring as it was just a muddle of houses and the only interesting things where the vehicles and the Periwinkles horse, buttercup.

So this post is basically showing off the park.
(Now, every so often I re-arrange the park, like I did in my earlier post 'all those little things' )

This is the overview of the park (sorry the image is abit blurry, I couldn't get the iPad straight)
Buttercup always LOVES standing by the small pond, she can hear her friends the birds and the croak of frogs and the whoosh of fishes as the they rush around the site, but she prefers just to let her mane flow in the wind. (Well, she would swap that any day because just before she is put in her pen for sleep, she gets a long stroke by Hannah, Kate and William Periwinkles baby.
Next to the mayors house, (see how he got to be the mayor in the latest story 'how the mayor came to be' ) there is a well, that's been there for years along with a pond, a boat, a bench and a adorable tree. :)
Across from the pond, and behind the bus stop, there is a sandpit/kiddy play pool, a swing, a nice rabbit shaped bush, lots and LOTS of flowers, and a nice little kiddy bench.
Next to the swing is William Periwinkles greenhouse, where he raises his award-winning vegetables from a tiny seed.

I hope, as always, you enjoy my posts, and I love making them!

Lots and lots of love, Emily xxxxxxx

Shopping Trip

Hey again! Today I went shopping! I went down through the bustling city on a Monday as it's half term, and after spending a fair amount at the real McCoys, Lush (which I LOVE) and some other places, I decided that since I had abit left, I could buy some stuff for my sylvanians.

First off, I went to Toymaster as they had a big section devoted to the sylvanian families.
I fell In LOVE with the village shoe boutique when I saw it. (I guess half of that reason was because it was only £9.99)
Daisy has taken Annabel and Erin on a little shopping trip. Camelia Periwinkle is on the clock at the shoe boutique for the dress shop.
Erin loves the little red ruby slippers!
The shoe boutique has a really lovely selection of shoes for adults, children and babies, and has a special stand for the expensive yellow sandals with real flowers that last forever. The two shoe boxes are so cute, and the other shoes, the children's red slippers, are very pretty, and every girl in sylvania wants them!
"It's a shame I can't fit into them!" Laughs Daisy Fresian, admiring the glowing affect they have.

After getting the shoe boutique, I visited the Range, a shop with a massive variety of things from furniture to outdoor. There, I went into the arts and crafts and bought this awesome fence!
When I bought it, I intended to paint it white, but looking at it now, it looks awesome and fits the colour scheme completely!
I also bought these mini craft jars, and when they are empty, I will fill them with treats that Kate periwinkle can make and sell, or so that Ham Hamilton can make some of his famous apple cider and sell that to villagers.w
The next thing I bought was four packs of this fake moss by oasis. I have been looking for this for a while, so when I found it, I just piled them on! I intend to use them to make higher cornwood a little greener.
The last thing I have to show you is two 1kg packs of white modelling clay! I have lots of plans for this!

Thanks for reading, I love the shoe boutique!
Love, Emily. Xxxxxx

Making A Pinboard

Hi guys! I am in the blogging FULL SWING at the moment!
Now, as you have noticed, my last post was all those little things which went up yesterday. In that post I promised a new post on a quick DIY that any collector could make to keep track of their collections!

This is what I wanted to show you.
I made this Pinboard a couple of months ago in Autumn.
It has all the latest info on my village :)
In the corners you can see cute drawings of the Periwinkle family I drew myself and trust me, it took ages to master the body shape and ears along with finding a matching detail for each item of clothing!
In the centre of the board is my membership to the collectors club certificate.
I joined the collectors club in 2012, and so far I have renewed my membership twice! the first time, I chose Troy and Zoe, the mayor and mayoress of Cornwood (Dante cream cats)
And the second time I chose Constance and Spud, the seadogs wife and son.
They are so happy they have been given a loving home ! :)
On the left hand side, I have my collectors badge;
And then, I have some pieces of paper.
In my last post, I mentioned I used a register to make sure I had everyone, well, this it! It includes all the families names and age (not for the adults of course, that would be impolite ;) )
Now, I am aware that you can see my not-so-glamourous foot, but this is another one of the pieces of paper.  It's all about how I constructed my village of cornwood, and some good tips and tricks.
This is the sylvanian tailor page, and I know it may be hard to read, so I might make a post on it in the future. ;) anyway, it features some nice accessories to make and it's just WONDERFUL!

Ok, so, before I end this post, I just wanted to say that  there was a bit of the Pinboard I haven't shown. It's this.
If you are a member of the collectors club, you would know that there was a design a house competition back in 2013. After entering the competition, I got a letter in the post with a package confirming that I came third in the competition, and if you have the latest magazine, in the front there is this.
Look in the 3rd prize section, and I'm second down! I really loved this whole thing, and I received a light and curtain set :')

I hope you enjoyed this post, so thankyou for reading it :)

Lots of love and kisses from cornwood :)

All those little things :)

I decided that at the end of February it will no longer be winter but it will be spring, and I was walking past my beautiful set up which has taken hours and realised I haven't been giving my lovelies enough attention over the phase of five weeks, and I decided the display was looking a bit bare. After I made the waterwell, which supplies many of the sylvanians when the water pipes are cut or when they need to give the plants a water in the dead hot season of summer, I have left my sylvanians to tipple over in the small gusts of wind that come from the window in my room. And, I have found a couple of spiders (eek!) to which I removed (not killing them, of course,). I decided an little bit of a cleanup was necessary, and since it's half term, I might set up a little winter market event :)
First off, I wanted to make some satchels for my sylvanians which could be sold at the market event by the dress shop and since I have already made some instructions on how to make bags, look up HOW TO MAKE A SATCHEL in my previous posts.

So, here is a satchel I have made previously :
So, the first thing I did was have some sort or checklist (a secret thing I have done will link to this, and I will post it later in the week along with some other news) to note down and make sure I had all of the sylvanians and I had whole sets of families in check (a sort of register)
I laid all the sylvanians on the grass in higher cornwood in their family groups and checked all of them with a tick on the checklist (after all, one May have gone walkies )
Luckily, all the sylvanians where there, so, while they where out, I did some re-organising and tidying on the houses.
In the Mulberry residents, I made sure all the beds where neat and tidy (as I did in the other houses) and put all the books back in the book barrel, as Candy:

Is playful but loves to read and never tidies after herself, and May, the mother, and Elma, the father (May called him Elma when they where dating, and after marriage, and kids, the children called him it, along with the villagers in Cornwood, so it kinda stuck )
Then, I made sure the village store was all in order. (I new it would be, Zafrina and Goaty Potter wouldn't let it get out of hand )
And, after making sure every thing else was in order, I started to set up the display for Higher cornwood before moving on to Lower Cornwood
The boys loved a good game of football, after all, if you had no chores, and you where invited to play a good game of kids vs. adults, would you play? I would!
The choo-choo was in motion and ready to run for the babies. Mr.Periwinkle sold his award winning vegetables and his wife's cakes along with her best seller cook books sold worldwide. Camelia periwinkle sold her handmade cushions which where sold in bucket loads. she was predicted to be the worlds next best designer!
The Village Store was in full swing, selling honey, jam, fruit and veg and cooking ingredients.
The dress shop was being sorted by Zoe Dante the mayoress and Matilda Billabong, who was Camelias role model :)

so, that was higher cornwood, and for lower cornwood I gave the park a tidy. now, none of the villagers where criminals when it came to littering, but the wind had taken its toll and had blown over
Some of the plants so I had to straighten them up.
Now, the village gleamed with life and happiness :)

I (as promised) will have another post being uploaded later in the week about a project not to do with the village but something any collector could do without batting an eyelid, so please stay tuned and I really hope you enjoyed this post as it took me 3 days, but the other one is already prepared and just needs publishing, so thankyou and come back soon!

Ps, I am launching a weekly contest where you vote which you prefer, this will be done in a few days and I have one running already about what you want to see more of on my blog so please take a gander at it and leave a vote!

Oh, and Annabel Fresian says hi.

Christmas

Christmas had arrived in corn wood! All of  the children where giddy with joy! So, what had Santa got them? Well, let's find out....

Peppa Hamilton delivered all the presents from the town square that morning, leaving all the presents outside the citizens doors.
When the presents where all collected, all the families sat down to open their wonderful gifts.
Maise Hamilton received a Santa figure, spice received a ball and ham got a book on gardening which he ADORED!

The Frisian girls recieved beautiful dresses which they believe came from the workshop of Camelia Periwinkles collections!
Speaking of Camelia, she was given some pink neon felt she wanted for her neon range! Lots of dresses where going to be made for summer...
All of the residents came to the square before going home for lunch to celebrate and sing carols. They where all happy... The End.
WAIT! Yes, I'm happy for them and all but look at the amount of wrapping I have to sort out now! Ugh....

P.s. I am now posting from the iPad I got for Xmas, there fore the picture quality is probably better!

a wooly winter

Its nearly christmas, today is the eve of christmas eve! I know for a fact that some sylvanian presents I have wrapped contain some wooly clothing i made about a month ago!
Now, i am very sorry I didn't post recently, I had a post organised but it didn't publish so  , it was meant to go up last weekend but you know -_-.
(LOL, that looks like a person with a mole :.) )
So, first off, I would like to announce the sylvanian families christmas display!
Every year I make one of these, and they are super cute!
AROUND the cornwood tree in the square there where lots of real presents! Charlotte, Peppa and Spice have found something for them and are super ready and eager!

The carol service was beautiful, the singers sounded like angels, and Spud sung a few solos for his claim to fame!

By the carol singers there was a banquet table laid with christmas cake, ripe fruit and candy canes with egg nog!
(Thanks to Amelia for the cake and candy!)

The dancers danced to sweet angel music, and everyone was happy.
